Adorable Crochet Owl Purse

Crochet Owl Purse

First off, let me apoligize in advance for not having the pattern. The reason is because I only had a picture of a bag I saw online to look at and try to copy. So my bag was being made only by trial and error. Thankfully not much error. I can at least try to explain what I did.

I used

slip stiches
single crochet stitches
crocdile stitches

I started at the bottom and made my crocodile stitches across till I had it as wide as I wanted. I then would add my new color in and kept doing row by row until I had as many rows I wanted. So only the front has the crocodile stich. I then cut the yarn.

After that I chose the dark grey for the entire back and upper front and strap. I started at the bottom on the back side single crocheting across to connect to the backside row of the crocodile stitch till I reached the other side. I continued going row by row and making sure to connect my sides to my stiches as I went. Once I was level at the top where my crocodile stiches are I then started Just single crocheting all the way around. So you have a nice rectangle bag right now.

Then I started on the straps. I had them fan outward where it connects to the bag so that it looks like the purse is pulled up on the sides. I sewed some non stretchy fabric on the underside of the strap and for the liner inside the purse to prevent stretching and sagging.

The eyes were easy, pretty much like crocheting flowers. With the beak I just tried to make a triangle.

I really wish I had wrote down as I went what I did, but then I didnt expect it to turn out as well as it did.

So maybe you can figure it out, hopefully its not too confusing.

Super Cute Book Drink Coasters

Book Drink Coasters

Ok, any true loving book enthusiast would agree when I say that you cant have a good book without a good cup of coffee or tea. Am I right? So what better thing to make then some drink coasters that look like books. They were pretty easy to make too.

What You'll Need:
1 or 2 packs of plastic coasters (mine cost $0.88 at walmart)
Mod Podge glue (I used matte mod podge from the dollar tree)
Paint of your choosing
Hot glue gun and glue sticks (or you could use puffy paint)
thin wood to cut to whatever size you're wanting the coasters to be.

Ok so lets get going...
I used two packs of coasters. There were four per pack and I needed six.
Carefully remove the cork paper from the coasters without ripping it. I used a razor blade to help pry the glue up. You can just toss the plastic bottoms. You won't be needing them.

You will now need to decide what size you want your coaster and to make sure your round cork piece fits well on top. I cut my pieces of wood out with a scroll saw but you can use whatever just as long as you get them cut.

Then I got my trusty glue gun out and doodled little designs near the corners so that it will be 3d when painted. If you dont want to go this route, you can always use puffy paint.
I then started painting them after the glue dried. I chose different colors for each but you can do them all the same or different. Just whatever you like best.
The middle isnt very important on getting painted, thats why mine looks only half done. Your cork sheet will cover it. After you've painted top, sides, and back you are ready to move on. Paint Your corners where the hot glue is (or skip the painting if you used puffy paint). I also painted the book ends part of my coasters. Which can be seen in my first picture at the very top but I will repost pic again further down.

You then will want to brush on the mod podge to the cork sheet and apply to the top of your wood. Make sure to press on it and see that it is bonded well to the wood. Set aside to dry.
And thats it you guys, you're all done. So as you can see, they are pretty easy to make. I had fun making them and am having fun using them. Hope you do too.

In Memory Of Quilt

In Memory Of Quilt

My Granny passed away and getting rid of her clothes just seemed so hard to do, so I decided that I would make something out of them that I could keep forever.

It was pretty easy. I used a square piece of thick cardboard as my stencil. All you have to do is decide what size squares you want and then cut your carboard a little bit bigger. That way you will have room around the edges to sew them together. After i had all my pieces cut I then spread them out on the floor till i had the design I wanted. I then snapped a picture of it so that there wouldnt be any confusion later when I started sewing it. Im really glad I decided to make it because I can use the quilt or store it for safe keeping but always have a part of my Granny.

Toilet Paper Roll Wall Art

Toilet Paper Roll Wall Art

What you'll need:

Toilet paper or paper towel rolls
hot glue and hot glue gun
paint (optional)
sissors

You will want to flatten your cardboard roll out. It makes it easier to cut as well as giving the pieces the shape they need to be. Then start cutting pieces that are all the same width so that you end up with cardboard rings like below.

Then you start gluing your pieces together to create your flowers.

You will also need to have extra pieces of cardboard to shape into the swirly pieces that connect the flowers. Once you get it laid out how you want it then start gluing it all together. I liked the light brown natural color of the cardboard so i didnt paint mine, but you can paint it if you want to add color. You will need straight pins to lightly nail on the wall to stick each of the flowers on so that it retains it shape. i just put a straight pin in the middle of each flower. So pretty easy craft and easy to hang.

DIY Hand Painted Bull Skull Shirt

My DIY hand painted bull skull shirt.

What you'll need is...

Paint (fabric paint would be the best, however i used a little bottle of acrylic paint since it wasn't going to be thick amounts applied)
A pattern to go by unless your wicked talented and freestyle one.

What I did was find a picture I liked and traced the outside of it onto the shirt. I then freehand shadowed and detailed the rest. It's not stiff to touch, like some paints leave fabric.
So as you can see it's pretty simple, turn a simple shirt, pretty.

Halloween decorative wine bottle

So I thought these napkins were so cute when I saw them in the store. Needless to say, I bought them with no idea what to do with them. Then I was sitting there looking at my empty wine bottle and a thought happened. How cute would my too cute napkins look on my wine bottle.

All you need is some
Mod podge
Brown paint to make the bottle look dirty
Small paint sponge
Plastic spider rings (cut the ring off)
Napkins of your choice

Just mod podge the back of the napkin and carefully press it down onto the bottle. Use a sponge to apply very messily the brown paint onto the bottle to make it appear dirty. Then just hot glue the plastic spiders.

The possibilities are really endless because it can be any kind of napkin for any kind of occasion.

Paper mache headboard

What you will need:

Tape
2 poster boards (less than a $1 each)
2 to 3 boxes of aluminum foil ( $1 each at the dollar tree.)
Lots of news papers
2 cans of spray paint (around $1 a can)
And then whatever paper mache recipe you want to use

This head board cost me roughly around 5 bucks to make. ☺

I didn't think at the time of making it to take photos as I went. Kinda wish I had but I'll try to explain the best I can. I didn't have a pattern and had drawn several different headboards till I had the one I wanted.

I then bought two poster boards and talked them end to end and measured out what size headboard I needed. I have a queen size bed. I then proceeded to draw my headboard onto it.

Cut out the pattern so that your end result is a cardboard head board.

Now for the tricky part. You take sections of the aluminum foil and wad them up so that they are in long snake like shapes. You then form their shape on top of the cardboard headboard taping it down as you go so that it is now becoming the shape of what a actual wrought iron headboard looks like. You keep doing this until every part is covered.

Note that you leave the backside like it is. Just flat card board. This is so that it can go against the wall later.

It will feel flimsy right now but won't later when you add the paper.

So mix up your paper mache and cut your newspaper in long strips. Now your ready for the messy part. Dip a strip of paper in your mixture and start wrapping it around your headboard so that the back side is also getting covered. When you are finished covering it, you shouldn't see any aluminum foil or tape or card board. Make sure that the paper is smooth and isn't puckered anywhere because as it dries it might make it pucker worse and then wont appear to be a smooth surface.

Let that dry for a day or two. It should then be very hard and sturdy once it is completely dry.

Now it's time to paint it. I chose black because my room is themed with red gold and black. Take it outside and make sure to lay it flat. Spray paint thin thorough coats and go back to fill in any places that were missed. There's no need to spray paint the backside because that will be flat against the wall.

So now you have a awesome looking headboard and its ready to be put up. I took very small but long pin nails and pushed them through the head board and into the wall and mounted it. Just make sure you have it measured right for the height of your bed so that once the bed is pushed back to the wall that it looks attached.

That's all. I hope my instructions weren't too confusing.
